Winner Man Of Substance disqualified

SINGAPORE:  July 13, 2012

MAN OF SUBSTANCE, who narrowly won a Class 4 - 1100m sprint on the polytrack at Kranji on June 17, has been disqualified and his trainer John O'Hara fined $10,000 after failing his post-race test.

Sample taken from the Elusive Quality gelding revealed the presence of Boldenone.

At the conclusion of an inquiry yesterday, O’Hara pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule of Racing 134(6) in that he, as the trainer of MAN OF SUBSTANCE, presented that horse which took part in the said race following which a urine sample taken from that horse failed a post-race screening which found the sample to contain the presence of Boldenone, in excess of the threshold in the MRA Rules and therefore a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules of Racing.

In terms of Rule 134(11), MAN OF SUBSTANCE was disqualified from the race and the result amended accordingly.
