On a day when there were
several runaway winners due to the "heavy" going, ROCKET ELITE (Partners
Choice - Layoff by Rivotious) provided a rare excitement for racegoers when
he narrowly took put a Class 5 - 1200m sprint here today.
Ridden by SS Vanan, the
Australian entire made all the running and held off the challenge of
Malaysian mare MOVING FORWARD to win by a neck.
It was a welcome change of
luck for the Peter Lee-trained six-year-old. He was his very first start
under Lee in September 2010 and had to wait two years to find success again.
In all, ROCKET ELITE has won four times in 38 starts.
NEVERANINCH (Admiralty -
Harvey Road by Harvey Pack) and WORLD SUPERMAN (Tough Speed - Loughmoe Lady
by Northern Chateau) both won by five and a quarter lengths.
Even-money favourite NO
UNCERTAINTY (Trade Fair - Camilla by King's Best) romped home by five
lengths.
Despite the adverse
conditions, most of the winners were well backed except for PACIFIC GIFT
(Untouchable - Samoa by Hula Chief) who paid RM77 for a win, today being the
first on-course meeting when the win and place betting reverted to RM5 per
unit.
