Flying to victory in Visit Perak Year Handicap

The Perak Turf Club belatedly celebrated Visit Perak Year 2012 by naming all the races this weekend after famous tourist attractions in the state.

And there could not have been a more appropriate winner in the main event, the RM125,000 Visit Perak Year 2012 Handicap, than EASY FLYING (One Cool Cat - Pegarah by Grosvenor).

The home based trained six-year-old, ridden by Azhar Ismail, beat stable-mate ARANDA by half a length to land the Classes 1 & 2 event over 1400m.

EASY FLYING has shown a lot of promise in the past two seasons — bagging a hat-trick in 2010 and winning twice last year — but his career has also been interrupted by setbacks which saw him spent two spells on the sidelines.

The New Zealand gelding resumed from a eight-month spell to finish fifth to ARANDA two months ago but showed the benefit of that outing today to register his sixth win in 14 starts.
