Tiang among two trainers on
forfeit list PENANG: Sept 27, 2012 |
||
Tiang Kim Choi, one of the more successful trainers in Malaysia in years past, has been placed on the forfeit list since Wednesday last week, which means he cannot train horses until his debt is settled. The Penang Turf Club placed Tiang on the MRA forfeit list after he failed to settle an outstanding sum of RM37,840.74. Tiang, who has been traing for more than a decade, is in fact the second Penang based trainer currently on the MRA forfeit list. In March, Tan Joo Hock, who obtained his licence only last year, was placed on the forfeit list after failing to pay RM9,295.95. While that sum was settled in July, earlier this month he was again placed on the forfeit list after failing to settle RM733.85 and RM936.49 with the Perak and Selangor Turf Club respectively. Tiang is best known as the trainer of OPPOSING FORCE (Jetball - Delia's Choice by Sir Tristram), who won the Selangor Gold Cup in 2004, then added the Perak Derby and Piala Emas Sultan Selangor to his collection of 10 win in Malaysia, having won once as a three-year-old at Victoria Park in Adelaide. Tiang also saddled SEASIDE BANK (Sikorsky - Casper Lady by Christmas Tree) to victory in the Penang Sprint Trophy in 2002. That was also his best season, finishing sixth in the table with 24 winners. |
