Since winning the Group 3
Polytrack Mile Championship last March — his third success at Group 3 level
— FLYING FULTON has to endure three second-place finishes in four starts
since.
But his luck changed
tonight when he easily accounted for his rivals in the S$150,000 Yee Tee
Classic Stakes over 1800m on the polytrack at Kranji tonight.
With Jose Verenzuela in the
saddle, FLYING FULTON (Flying Spur - Fulton by Zabeel) tracked the early
pacemaker FLYING WEST — his conqueror two starts back — till the home bend
before cruising oast the leader and cleared away to win by three and a
quarter lengths.
BLACK ICE finished strongly
to beat FLYING WEST for second placing.
"We’ve had a lot of seconds
with him. It’s been frustrating and I’m glad for the team we’ve been able to
make him win tonight," said trainer Mark Walker of his charge who has now
won eight times in 28 starts in Singapore including five wins in the
polytrack.
The New Zealand
five-year-old also started 15 times back home for two wins including the
listed Great Northern Foal Stakes at Ellerslie.
