The Singapore Turf Club marked 170 years of racing in Singapore with a commemorative event, the S$200,000 Jubilee Stakes for three-year-olds at Kranji here today.

But punters were left a little disappointed because the first three favourites in the condition-weights race fell by the wayside.

It was the fourth pick in the nine-horse field HOT GOLD (Iffraaj - Timewee by Romanov) who captured the prize against pretty useful opposition under regular rider Danny Beasley.

The Irish gelding came into the race with a win, four seconds and a fourth in six previous starts and underlined his potential with another superb display.

"He’s always finished thereabouts even if he’s been a bit of a hothead, but the boys have done a tremendous job with him, and he was a lot less tense today," said trainer Cliff Brown.
