HUMBLE PRINCE (My Halo -
Incanto by Magic Ring) resumed after bleeding last time out and a subsequent
enforced layoff to score his third win in his last four starts in the Open
Set-Weight event over 1200m at Sungei Besi here today.
After chalking up three
wins in 2009 and two the following year, the New Zealand gelding went off
the radar last year but regained his form in grand style with back-to-back
wins in April and May.
Then came the unfortunate
bleeding attack resulting in him finishing down the field last June.
With Calvin Goon back to
partner him, HUMBLE PRINCE started a firm second favourite and ran out a
convincing one and a half-length winner for his eight wins in 30 starts.
With the tussle for the
jockey's premiership heating up, all three front-runners for the title —
Eirwan Khalid, Jose De Souza and Jai Shankar — managed to ride into the
winner's circle with a win each.
