It has taken Perth
Cup-winning jockey Alan Kennedy just three rides to make his mark in
Malaysia when he booted home BLUE HILLS (Manner Hill - Ronda's Girl by
Bellotto) to win the opening race here today.
Increasing weight in recent
seasons limited his opportunities down under and he headed to Malaysia last
week to try his luck.
He had one unplaced ride
each last Saturday and Sunday and the 23-year-old quickly
made it count on BLUE HILLS, who had cost just A$3,000
as a yearling.
But punters weren't exactly
thrilled at the win. Despite finishing fifth in his debut three weeks ago,
BLUE HILLS started at long odds and paid RM411 for a win.
Kennedy won the Perth Cup
on LORDS RANSOM (Jeune
- Palace Alice by Palace Music) in 2010.
A bit of history was also
created today when HALLYU (Exploit - Teukjip by Double Honor) became the
first Korean bred to race in Malaysia but the three-year-old finished down
the field in the race won by BLUE HILLS.
