POWER OF KHAN capped his
phenomenal rise this season with a scintillating performance to win the
RM300,000 Selangor Gold Cup over 1600m at Sungei Besi here today.
Trained by Johnny Lim, the
five-year-old resumed from a nine-month spell to win twice in Class 3 last
month.
Ridden by Andrew John Sundradas
today, POWER OF KHAN (General Nediym - Flurry's Gem by Perugino) showed just
how much he has improved this season when he defeated last year's joint
Sprint Trophy winner and last month's MRA Cup runner-up EAGLE by
half-a-length.
The bang-in-form BANKS'
GIFT, winner of three of four starts this season, finished third.
POWER OF KHAN, who cost
A$80,000 as a yearling at the Melbourne sale, had a win and four fourth
finishes in 10 starts in Australia before coming to Malaysia.
He has three consecutive
placings before breaking through in Class 4 in June last year but was forced
out on the sidelines for nine months. The timeout, as it appears, has turned
out to be a blessing in disguise.
