Three winners in quickly
succession saw Laurie Laxon shot to the front in the trainer's premiership
on the penultimate meeting of the 2012 Singapore racing season at Kranji
tonight.
After NZ$125,000 yearling
PROFOUND broke the duck in his 12th start in the Maiden - 1600m handicap,
two promising horses gave Laxon the much needed boost in his bid for a sixth
title in Singapore since 2004.
HUKA FALLS, who was passed
in at NZ$45,000 at the Ready To Run sale, made it five wins in six starts in
the Kranji Stakes C - 1200m sprint.
SIR OAKLEY, who impressed
in his last start win over 1400m after finishing second in his debut,
stepped up in distance and romped home by four lengths in the Class 4 -
1700m handicap.
The treble brings Laxon's
tally to 75 for the season, just one ahead of Michael Freedman who had a
solitary winner with MR ARMSTRONG in the Restricted Maiden, Div 1 - 1200m
event.
Laxon, champion trainer for
six consecutive years from 2004, will be saddling 11 runners in seven races
on the final day on Sunday while Freedman's nine runners is spread out over
eight races.
