Maynard makes comeback to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR:  May 3, 2012

Frank Maynard, who surprised many when he quit the local scene in early 2010 to return to Australia, is making a comeback to Malaysian racing after being granted his licence by the Malayan Racing Association.

Maynard, who was last based at the Selangor Turf Club in Sungei Besi, will be back at the old stomping ground after being granted stables by the club.

Maynard made his bow in Malaysia in 2002 and quickly established himself as a top trainer, consistently finishing in the top 10. He was based in Penang when he won the trainer's premiership in 2006 with 49 winners.

He scored his first big win with JERAM NEW VILLAGE in the Sprint Trophy in 2005, a feat he repeated with CHEYENNE DANCER three years later.

JERAM NEW VILLAGE also won the Astro Wah Lai Toi Vase in 2006 and CHEYENNE DANCER the Magic Millions Classic in 2007.

Maynard also captured the Perak Derby with GOLD ARROW in 2006, the Selangor Gold Cup with JERAM SPECIAL in 2007 and NEW KUALA DIPANG the Yang Di Pertua Negeri Gold Cup the same year.
