Unplaced in his only run as
a three-year-old in Western Australia, MEDIA CAPTAIN (Snippetson - Jessikar
Belle by Charnwood Forest) made a winning debut in Singapore with a gutsy
display in the Initiation - 1200m sprint at Kranji tonight.
Ridden by Danny Beasley,
the Australian gelding came with a sustained effort in the final 200m to
beat the front-running favourite MACHFIVE, who had a pull of 5.5kg in the
handicap, by a neck.
"He was relaxed throughout
the run and he showed plenty of courage to get up," said Beasley. "He ran
above his ability tonight and I think he will get even better over 1400m."
"I think he’s a pretty
genuine horse," said trainer Cliff Brown who had just two runners for the
meeting.
