MR BIG lived up to his
awesome reputation when he outclassed his rivals to win the RM1mil Malaysia
Magic Millions Classic here today.
The 1200m sprint is open to
Magic Millions graduates from both sides of the causeway and this year
attracted three runners from Kranji to make the trip up north.
In the end, it was the
super consistent MR BIG, trained by Michael Freedman, who finished two
lengths ahead of another Singapore runner FEISTY LEO.
MR BIG also set a new
course record time of 1min. 8.6secs. which clipped seven-tenth of the
previous best first set by KING'S SEAL in 1993, matched by I'M DEWAN in 1999
and equalled agai by HAPPY REALM only yesterday.
The Champion two-year-old
in Singapore last year, MR BIG has another stellar season as a
three-year-old, fining second to ATO in the international Group 1 KrisFlyer
International Sprint back in May and has since picked up two Singapore Group
3 wins.
MR BIG was targetted for
the Longines Hong Kong Sprint earlier this month but did not make the trip
after he pulled up with "filling in a joint" following a race on Nov 23.
The Magic Millions race
turned out to a huge consolidation for the gelding who cost just A$21,000 as
a yearling who has already earned more than $1.17 mil in Singapore.
