home for an impressive win

Distinctly unlucky in his
debut two weeks ago, SIR OAKLEY (Coats Choice - Blue Shades by Warsaw Pact)
made no mistake this time to score an impressive win in the Initiation -
1400m sprint at Kranji here today.
The New Zealand
four-year-old was unable to secure a clear from from the 500m to the 150m
when second to LUWAK COFFEE over the same course and distance in his racing
debut.
With Joao Moreira on
assignments overseas, Danny Beasley took the ride on the gelding and coolly
guided him to a one and a quarter-length win.
After the race, trainer
Laurie Laxon predicted a bright future for his charge. "His sire is doing
very well as a sire of middle-distance performers back home. I think he will
become a stayer."
SIR OAKLEY is a
half-brother to SOLID IMPACT who has already won five races in Singapore.
Their dam was four races at 2000m and 2100m.
