Welsh Queen reigns in stamina test

WELSH QUEEN (Scatter The Gold - Mood For Love by Darshaan), who finished down the field in her last five starts, caused a big surprise when she accounted for Class 5 field over 2000m here today.

Ridden by N Shahrul who has partnered her in three previous starts this season, the Japanese mare settled in a handy third position early and easily went to the front at the top of the straight when the two leaders faltered.

SPACE INVADER threw in a spirited challenge in the final 200m but WELSH QUEEN held on to win by one length. She paid a thumping RM407 for a win.

WELSH QUEEN began her career in Singapore where she managed a win over 2000m but has enjoyed more success in Malaysia, winning three times.
