High riding apprentice Tengku Rehaizat, who currently sits ninth in the table with 11 winners, has been suspended three months after the Stewards concluded an inquiry into the running of the Steven Burridge-trained ILUMINADO at Kranji on April 15. ILUMINADO, ridden by Rehaizat, finished fourth to MARTINCHO CAT in a Benchmark 74 - 1600m handicap. At the inquiry, Rehaizat, in the presence of his master trainer Desmond Koh, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) in that: (1) from the 700m to the 450m, he failed to maintain or improve his position relative to JET STREAM (J Saimee), thereby placing himself at a disadvantage; and (2) from the 400m until approaching the 200m, he failed to ride with sufficient vigour and determination. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the nature of the charge and submissions from App Rehaizat that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, April 27 and Sunday, April 29. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, April 30 until Sunday, July 29, both dates inclusive (a period of three months). He was advised of his right of appeal. |
