ROCKET MAN bounced back
from his unplaced run in the Hong Kong Sprint last start to win the Kranji
Stakes A - 1200m sprint in a canter on the polytrack at Kranji today.
Despite having not started
since December, the six-year-old ran his rivals off their feet, leading from
start to finish to win by four and three-quarter lengths. It was his 19th
win in 25 starts.
It was the perfect
preparation for the two-time Singapore Horse Of The Year who heads to Dubai
next to defend his Dubai Golden Shaheen, his first international Group 1
success achieved last year.
ROCKET MAN went on to win
the KrisFlyer International Sprint on his home turf but has been in two more
Group 1 races since in Japan and Hong Kong.
"This
was the perfect prep run for him. It should get him right for Dubai,” said
last season's champion trainer Patrick Shaw. "Considering
he hasn’t raced for a while and he was giving weight to the others, it was a
superb effort."
