Rocket Man wins fourth Lion

ROCKET MAN galloped into
the history book when he romped to a fourth consecutive win in the S$500,000
Lion City Cup (1200m) at Kranji here today.
In recording his 20th win
in 27 starts, the Australian gelding became the first horse in local racing
to win a major race four times, his first as a three-year-old in 2009.
Ridden by visiting jockey
Felix Coetzee, ROCKET MAN (Viscount - Macrosa by Mr McGinty) won by two and
three-quarter lengths in a time of 1min 10.44secs, far off his winning time
of 1min 8.85secs last year.
"He’s going to be
fitter for the KrisFlyer (International Sprint) in three weeks time. We
just couldn’t press as hard as I wanted in the lead-up to this race.
“He only had the one
trial since he came back from Dubai just over three weeks ago," said
trainer Patrick Shaw.
ROCKET MAN won his second
international Group 1 in the KrisFlyer last year, following his success in
the Golden Shaheen in Dubai two months earlier.
