Winning double for apprentice Lam in debut

Rarely does an apprentice win their debut ride. Lam Siew Leong joined an elite band of apprentice who achieved this feat when successful on BLACK SUPREME in the opening race at Sungei Besi today.

But what sets Lam apart from the rest is when he went on to score on his next ride on EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC as well, making it a perfect afternoon for the 35-year-old who only obtained his "B" Grade licence five days ago.

Both winners are trained by Lam's master Dr Tan Swee Hock.

BLACK SUPREME, winless since September last year, sprang back to form to pay RM115 for win and has now recorded all his six wins on this track.

EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC, who has three fourth place finishes in six starts in Australia, got off the mark in his sixth outing in Malaysia.
