SUSPECT, who was in the
winner's circle just two starts back, was allowed to start at long odds in a
Class 5 - 1400m handicap here today.
In fact, the Australian
six-year-old was only one of three horses in the 14-horse field who had a
win in their last six outings.
Trained by Tan Soo Beng and
ridden by stable apprentice Yap Kin Yin, SUSPECT (General Nediym - Wandane
by Danehill) coasted to a two-length win to pay RM684 for a win.
It was the third win in 27
starts in Malaysia for the gelding who had cost A$150,000 as a yearling. He
had managed a win from eight starts in Australia before coming over here.
For Yap, the win was a
morale booster as it was his second success of the season. The apprentice
had been issued only a six-month licence until June 30 after failing to land
a winner from 15 rides last year.
