Kuala Lumpur based trainers
made a clean sweep of the first, new-look one-day meeting at their home turf
here today, officiating by their own officials and not that from the Malayan
Racing Association (Malaysia).
Newly-crowned champion
trainer Richard Lines and former champion Johnny Lim led the way with three
winners apiece, their firsts of the season after drawing a blank at the
four-day meeting in Ipoh.
Lines, who won the
premiership for the first time last year, had back-to-back wins with VISTA
(Pacific Prince - AR Registered by North Reef) and AMAZING GRACE (High
Chaparral - Torrance by Geiger Counter).
RUSSIAN SAFARI (St
Petersburg - On Safari by Volksraad), whose last win was in August 2009,
returned to the winning circle to give Lines his third of the afternoon.
Lim, the champion trainer
in 2008 and 2009, found success with MATCHSTICK MAN (Lost Soldier - Gold
Skimmer by Gold Meridian), SAGAR'S EXPRESS (Snippetson - Princess
Diamond by King Of Kings) and ITNOTTHEPRICE (Danasinga - Folklore by Fairy
King).
But the plum of the after,
the RM100,000 Wilayah Silver Bowl was won by Sarawakian Wee Mung Hua who
saddled BANKS' GIFT (Over - Golf Circuit by Groucho) to his fourth win in 20
starts, but his first outing under the newly-licensed trainer.
