Rising nine-year-old THARA
(Agnes World - Delicate Choice by Last Tycoon) caused the biggest upset of
the season yet in Malaysia when he scored a comeback win in a Class 5 -
1300m sprint here today.
Recently transferred to
trainer Kevin Coetzee after a long run of unplaced outings, the
Australian gelding, ridden by M Djulkifli, sat handy early until the home stretch before kicking
away to win by two lengths in the heavy going. He paid RM1,022 for a win.
Bought for A$200,000 as a
yearling, he won three races in Australia when racing as SWAINS WORLD. After
landing in Singapore, he managed just one win at Kranji before heading to
Malaysia where he managed a win in December 2010. Today's win was his first
success since.
Benny Woodworth signalled
his return to race riding after recovering from injury with a win astride
OUR FAITH (Viking Ruler - Gracie's Comet by Star Way) in the final event.
The four-year-old thus
ended a run of five placings to register his third win in 14 starts.
It was Woodworth's first day back after
falling off BULL AND BEAR at Kranji on Jan 15. After the weekend, the 1995
MRA champion jockey whilst still an apprentice will head for Mauritius where
he won the jockey's title in 2008.
