TOM (Darci Brahma - Boito
Belle by Centaine) returned to the winner's circle after five starts, thanks
to a well-judged ride by apprentice Koh Teck Huat over his pet distance of
1400m.
The New Zealand gelding
came from a long way back to won by one and a half lengths.
Although placed thrice
since his last success, finishing second over 1400m in soft going last time
out, the four-year-old was neglected in the betting in tonight's Class 3
event which was also run in soft going. He paid $85 for a win.
The NZ$80,000 purchase at
the Ready To Run sale has now started 12 times for four wins, all over
1400m.
"I’ve tried him at 1600m
before but he pulled too hard, but he likes the pace on and it turned out
right for him tonight," said trainer Laurie Laxon.
