The nightmare is finally
over for MR WHYTE (Written Tycoon - Chapent by Peintre Celebre), who had
cost A$110,000 at the Ready To Sale and destined for racing in Singapore.
The Australian gelding
finished dead last in his Kranji debut in May last year and it was to be
another nine months before he raced again.
He fared no better in three
more starts this season, finishing down the field each time, despite a
change of name from DESTINY EFFECT.
But the decision to send
him to Ipoh under trainer Kevin Coetzee hit pay dirt when he won his
Malaysian debut in the Maiden - 1100m handicap over the straight course
today, winning comfortably by two and a quarter lengths.
For a horse who finished
down the field in his last start just two weeks ago, the win by HAPPY REALM
(Bletchley Park - Lucy Tudor by Statoblest) in a Class 4 - 1200m handicap
today was nothing short of sensational.
Partnered by his regular
rider Salee Saad, the four-year-old only only trashed his rivals by 11
lengths, but recorded a time of 1min 9.7secs, just half a second outside the
short course record which has stood since 1993.
Earlier this year, the
Australian gelding scored two consecutive wins, adding to two victories he
achieved last year.
