It was two wins from two
rides in Penang here today for apprentice Yap Kin Yin, who is arguably the
most improved riders this season.
After landing a solitary
winner in his debut season in 2008, Yap failed to win a single race for the
next three years which led to him being granted only a nine-month permit
until the end of September this season.
But with his double on
WORLD SUPERMAN (Tough Speed - Loughmore Lady by Northern Chateau) and SUMMER
PROMISE (Perfect Mandate - Visionist by Bertrando) today, Yap, who is
currently indentured to new trainer Wee Mung Hua, has brought his tally to
19 for the season, sitting on eighth spot in the table.
Yap was indisposed after
his double and had to forego four more rides later in the day.
Wee, who moved his base to
Penang last month, is also enjoying a good run of success, winning a double
with FANTASTIC GIFT (Indian Danehill - Nanset by Bigstone) and SUMMER
PROMISE. He is now fifth in the table with 28 winners.
