Last season's champion
jockey Joao Moreira and top trainer Laurie Laxon combined to win three races
together and ended the meeting with four winners apiece at Kranji here
tonight.
Laxon, who had just six
runners for the evening, had a winning start when RON, ridden by Moreira,
broke through for his maiden win in five starts.
Later, the pair also won
back-to-back races on ROUGH DAY, who returned to form for his third win, and
BIG READY, a first-time winner in four outings.
Laxon also sent out
newcomer LEWIS to a two-length victory and it was the first winner Jose
Verenzuela rode for the Kiwi. The gelding had raced once in New Zealand for
a second.
Moreira, meanwhile, helped
another Kiwi, Mark Walker maintained his lead in the trainer's table scoring
on WAR AFFAIR, who followed up on a fourth in his debut to take the Inglis
Sydney Juvenile Stakes which is the fifth leg of the Singapore Golden
Horseshoe Series.
Walker leads the table with
33 winners, with Laxon just two winners behind.
