Boom apprentice
A'Isisuhairi Kassim had a superb 'home coming' at Sungei Besi here today
when rode three winners including the feature event, the Carlsberg Cup - 1st
Leg, on DARK MATTER.
The Kelantan lad began his
career in the saddle on this track when he was a track rider for trainer
Peter Tennent before going to New Zealand to start his apprenticeship and
learnt the finer art of the trade down under.
A'Isisuhairi returned to
the local circuit and decided to continue his career in Singapore.
After riding just one
winner last year, the A'Isisuhairi has taken the Singapore scene by storm
this season by booting home 42 winners thus far and currently lies fourth in
the table.
A'Isisuhairi had just
unplaced ride today before winning back-to-back races on BRASH SON and INTER
REWARD.
He capped the afternoon
with his win on DARK MATTER, a four-time winner at Kranji who also picked up
two wins in Dubai last year. But the Australian gelding has not raced again
since returning from Dubai in March last year.
Despite his long absence,
DARK MATTER started odds-on and A'Isisuhairi handled the gelding confidently
to score by one and a half lengths.
A'Isisuhairi finished the
afternoon with a record of three wins and three placings from eight rides.
