A change of name brought an
instant change of luck for GO IT ALONE in the Maiden Handicap over 1200m at
Sungei Besi here today, when the Selangor Turf Club held a novelty meeting
for their home based horses.
After two unplaced in two
runs in Singapore, the four-year-old made the switch up north here to join
trainer Richard Lines and change his name from NOPAYNOHAY.
Racing after a four-month
break as a result of his move, GO IT ALONE got it right with champion
apprentice Yap Kin Yin in the saddle today, winning by half a length.
Two races today were set
aside for Sungei Besi based apprentices and both went to Mohd Firdaus Mansor
who was successful with KINGSHIP ADMIRAL and ANDREW'S GOLD.
For KINGSHIP ADMIRAL, it
was the end of a long lane, finally finding the mark in his 23rd start.
ANDREW'S GOLD showed that
there is still racing left in him at nine year, reversing a series of poor
runs of late to notch his seventh win in 61 starts.
Firdaus went on to claim a third win when he
replaced the indisposed Hanif Mohamad on ADMIRAL NICK.
