ANAK PUJUT, who relocated
to Malaysia last year after chalking up two wins at Kranji in 2011, got off
the mark in the country in style when he set a new course record for the
1100m here today.
On the back of two minor
placings earlier this season, the Australian five-year-old led his rivals on
a merry chase before winning as he liked by three and three-quarter lengths.
ANAK PUJUT, now trained by
Bonny Ng, clocked 1min 3.70secs for the journey which better the previous
best of 1min 3.83secs set by RUSH HOUR in 2011.
Meanwhile, Penang based trainers
enjoyed another superb afternoon when they won eight of the nine races on
the card.
Since the Penang Turf Club
the "incentive bonus" for home based horses to RM20,000, there have been
resurgent in the performances of Penang trained horses especially on home
ground.
Leading the charge today
were Dr Tan Swee Hock, the top trainer in Penang for the past few seasons,
and Wee Meng Hua, who relocated to Penang in the middle of last year. Both
saddled two winners.
