Without a win in the past
seven race days, Azhar Ismail bounced back just as his nearest rival was
away overseas on assignment to consolidate his lead at the top of the
jockey's table.
Jose De Souza, who has been
closing the gap (to just three wins) on Azhar in recent weeks, was in Macau
to take part in a international jockeys challenge last night.
He is due to fly to
Singapore today to ride in the Singapore Gold Cup meeting tomorrow.
Azhar endless his winning
run to score on FLASH GORDON, his first ride of the afternoon, and completed
a double on RUMPELSTILTSKIN, both trained by Peter Lee.
The double brings his tally
to 42 for the season, five clear of De Souza.
Apprentice Joseph See, who
rode a winner at Kranji last night, made the journey to Ipoh worthwhile when
he landed double on EL JEYA and MIRACLE PRAY for trainer Prakhash Pereira.
