Irish jockey Padraig Beggy,
who made several visits last year but failed to land a winner in 24 rides,
finally booted home his first winner in Malaysia when he piloted VIVA AMOUR
to victory in a Class 5 - 1300m sprint at Sungei Besi here today.
The New Zealand
eight-year-old scored a comeback win last August, his sixth win, and
returned with a cut to his near-hind when he finished down the field last
Sunday.
With a switch of rider to
Peggy, VIVA AMOUR found better fortunes when he coasted home by two lengths.
Beggy has a win and two seconds in 12 rides this far this season.
Meanwhile, Noel Callow
repeated his double strike yesterday with wins on SPIN CITI and LANDING
NORTH, the latter setting a new course record for the 1100m with a time of
1min 4.33sec.
It was a case of
two-for-two for Callow on LANDING NORTH as the Aussie has also scored on the
Australian gelding last September.
