Upset win by Cavallo in RDA Cup

CAVALLO storms home to register an upset win - SNTC photo

CAVALLO took advantage of a huge drop in the weight to score a stunning upset in the S$125,000 RDA Cup over 1200m on the polytrack at Kranji here today.

In his last start, CAVALLO finished third to RAPIDO STAR in a similar event but on the turf. The latter, as well as some other more established names were also in the line-up today but CAVALLO brushed them aside to claim a notable win, his sixth in 17 starts.

Ridden by John Sundradas, the four-year-old came from a long way back to beat EL MILAGRO by half a length.

Trainer Sam Chua, who has now won three races in six starts with the gelding since joining his table in August, said: "I wasn’t confident at all about getting a win, especially against this quality field with so many good horses in this race." Which probable explained CAVALLO started at generous odds and paid $118 for a win.

CAVALLO was also a surprise winner ($160) at his last win back in September.
