South African jockey Greg
Cheyne failed to gain a single point from the three International Jockeys
Challenge races today but his effort yesterday was enough to land him the
winner's title, a trophy and RM20,000 as cash.
Singapore based Cheyne had a win and two
seconds in the three races staged yesterday, garnering 26 points.
Three-time Singapore champion jockey Joao
Moreira made a valiant bid today when he finished second on ROCKET EXPRESS
in the New Zealand Bloodstock Trophy before winning the final IJC event on
AUSSIE SON in the Australian Bloodstock Agency Trophy.
But that wasn't enough to overhaul Cheyne and
he ended up second with 23 points, taking home RM5,000 and a trophy.
Lisa Allpress, who was successful on JOYFUL
yesterday, had two more third placing today to finish third on 20 points,
earning RM3,000 and a trophy.
The New Zealand Bloodstock Trophy was won by
Malaysian based Brazilian jockey Jose De Souza on GHOST STREET.
French jockey Davy Bonilla, who recently ended
a six-month stint in Singapore, won the Macau Jockey Club Goodwill Cup on
ONLY ONE. Out of the
14 participating jockeys, 13 were in the points. The odd one out was Korea's
Cho Chan Hoon.
