Corey Brown off the mark early

It has not taken long for Corey Brown to get off the mark in his current two-month stint in Singapore, with the help from another Brown — trainer Cliff who is not related to the jockey but no stranger to him either.

After three unplaced rides on his first day back at Kranji, the Melbourne Cup-winning jockey booted home LORD BROMPTON to an easy win in the Ninetyfive Emperor 2005 Stakes.

With a win and three minor placings in four starts, the four-year-old was sent out favourite in the Class 4, Div 1 - 1400m handicap.

Brown, a former top apprentice and champion jockey in Sydney, timed his ride to perfection as he brought LORD BROMPTON from well off the pace to snatch victory by one and a quarter lengths.

"I’ve ridden everywhere in Asia and I know how important it is to kick off with a winner very early," said jockey Brown who has a win to his name at Kranji way back in 2001.

The two Browns have teamed up with success in Australia before, notable winning the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield in 2004 with RIZON (Zabeel - On The Rise by Created Wave).
