DIAMONDINDRUFF finally gets
to shine after 20 starts when he scored his first win in the Maiden Handicap
over 1000m here today.
It was his first
opportunity to race over the short trip, having been placed thrice over
longer distances in the past, and obviously benefited from three unplaced
runs last month after resuming from a four-month let-up.
Henry Barnabas, who was
astride him when they finished second here last November, again has the ride
and managed to get the four-year-old home to win by a short head in a blanket finish.
DIAMONDINDRUFF was
purchased by his trainer Chong Keng Leong for A$40,000 as a yearling.
Home based trainers made a
clean sweep of the seven races held today with seven different trainers
taking a race each.
