Super Easy runs away with Lion City Cup

SUPER EASY showed he is back to his best form when accounting for a smart field in the S$500,000 Lion City Cup over 1200m at Kranji here today.

In winning the Singapore Group 1 race by one and a quarter lengths from MR BIG, with SPEEDY CAT coming home third, last season's Singapore Horse Of The year will get another crack at an international Group 1 event when he lines up in the S$1mil KrisFlyer International Sprint in three weeks' time.

Unbeaten in his first 12 starts over sprint distances, he was beaten for the first time when second to BETTER LIFE in the Kranji Mile over 1600m.

Then came two unplaced runs in Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong Sprint.

Back on home turf, SUPER EASY was resuming from a spell when third to SPEEDY CAT in the Group 3 Merlion Trophy last month. With the run under his belt, he proved to be a totally different proposition today.

"It’s a big relief more than anything else. It’s been a few months since Super Easy won his last race and it’s good to see him win again," said trainer Michael Freedman. "It’s onwards and upwards to the KrisFlyer now."
