After his unexpected defeat in the Stewards' Cup, the first leg of the Singapore Four Year Old Challenge, SUPER EASY was back to his brilliant best when he took out the Group 1 S$500,000 Patrons' Bowl over 1600m at Kranji here today.

The Australian entire was ridden up with the pace in the first leg over 1400m but champion jockey Joao Moreira was more patient with last season's Horse Of The Year and Champion Three Year Old this time.

Coming off the pace, SUPER EASY swept to the lead inside the final 200m to win by three parts of a length from outsider CITY LAD. EL MILAGRO, who was second in the Steward's Cup, came third this time. Stewards' Cup winner SPEED CAT failed to see out the trip and finished sixth.

The final leg of the challenge, the S$1.15 Emirates Singapore Derby, will be run on Jul 14.

"I’ll see how he pulls up before deciding if we press on to the Derby. Whether he can stay or not I’m not sure, but I can tell you that whenever good horses are tested over more ground, they can beat the other horses on class sometimes," said trainer Michael Freedman.

Moreira was also at his brilliant best this afternoon when he booted home five winners, including four consecutives races.
