EASY MAN made up for lost
time when he resumed after 14 months on the sidelines to win the Kranji
Stakes D, Div 1 - 1100m sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here today.
Contrary to his name, the
career of EASY MAN has not been smooth sailing.
After narrowly beaten when
second to PITSTOP in the Aushorse Golden Horseshoe in his race debut last
year, the New Zealand gelding went on to win his next start in style in
Restricted Maiden company.
But a barrier trial injury
to his near-fore splint bone which required metal plate to be screwed onto
the bone meant EASY MAN had to be out of action all this while.
Trainer Leslie Khoo, who
paid NZ$60,000 for him at the Ready To Run sale, must be commended for
nursing him back to race fitness and EASY MAN showed plenty of class when he
cruised home to win by three and a half lengths today.
"I could have gone for a
Class 4 race, but in the end chose this easier Kranji Stakes D race just to
give him an easy comeback to get his confidence back," said Khoo who said
the gelding will now be given a short break. "With the injury and operation
he had, I have to be super careful with him."
