Eirwan fails in appeal against suspension

Last season's champion jockey Eirwan Khalid has failed in his appeal against a four-month suspension and a RM20,000 fine for his ride on LUCK DRAGON in a Restricted Maiden - 1200m sprint here in July last year.

Eirwan was charged for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards on the Australian gelding.

The Perak Turf Club Racing Stewards heard an appeal of Eirwan today.

After considering all submissions from counsel Gary Gooi, representing Eirwan, and the Chief Stipendiary Steward Scott Matthews, and reviewing the films, the Racing Stewards dismissed the appeal and Eirwan’s deposit is forfeited.

Kirwan’s suspension will commence from Monday and to expire on Aug 21, both dates inclusive.
