Double for Eirwan on his return to action

KUALA LUMPUR:  Aug 31, 2013

Champion jockey Eirwan Khalid returned to action after serving a four-month suspension with a vengeance at Sungei Besi here today.

After a 'warm up' ride in the second event, Eirwan went on to win his next two rides on BLACK AND WHITE and TIGER CAPTAIN.

The former, despite winning last start in Class 5, was ignored in the betting and promptly defied a promotion to win easily by two and a half lengths to pay RM105 for a win.

TIGER CAPTAIN stepped up on two recent placings to snatch a narrow victory, his first since August last year and third overall in 53 starts.

Meanwhile, THE HAWK swopped to victory in the main feature of the day, the RM75,000 Getha Cup, over 1300m. The eight-year-old has seven previous wins but his last came way back in January last year.
