It was the end of a long
and winding road for trainer Peter Fell when THUNDER MAN saluted the judges
in a Class 5 - 1100m sprint at Sungei Besi today.
It was the first winner for
the Kiwi since he made his local debut in April last year, after relocating
from Mornington in Australia where he was based for 30 years.
With just a small team of
horses, Fell had struggled to find that elusive winner for 13 months.
THUNDER MAN, who won his
last start in a novelty meeting here two weeks ago, was transferred to his
stable after that win. It was the Australian six-year-old who provided him with his much
awaited success today, partnered by Mohd Firdaus Mansor who was also astride
the gelding in his last start. THUNDER MAN has now won four of 44 starts.
However, just like Danny
Murphy two weeks ago, Fell has still to find his first 'official' winner as
today's results will not count in the championship for the season. Today's
novelty meeting featured only home based horses and offered half the normal
prizemoney.
