Rebel Fury makes swift amends

KUALA LUMPUR:  Mar 24, 2013

REBEL FURY made amends for his last-start expensive defeat in the MRA Cup (1400m) in Ipoh early this month to win the Selangor Gold Cup Trial over 1400m at Sungei Besi here today.

A spectacular first-up winner in the Tunku Gold Cup (1200m) last month, the Australian six-year-old failed to handle the soft track in Ipoh when he finished down the field.

On a track rated yielding today, REBEL FURY also had the services of top jockey Noel Callow who kept the fielding well off the pace in the early running this time compared with his last two runs.

REBEL FURY was then able to charge home to beat the former Singapore galloper KING EMPIRE, who was making his Malaysian debut today, by a neck.

The Selangor Gold Cup will be staged over 1600m next Sunday and going on today's run, REBEL FURY should have no difficulty seeing out the journey.
