Hong Kong, for some time
now a dominant force at home in the Hong Kong International races, brought
the show to Singapore tonight when they won both the Group 1 S$3mil
Singapore Airlines International Cup and the Group 1 S$1mil KrisFlyer
International Sprint at Kranji.
MILITARY ATTACK, who won
the Group 1 Audemars Piguet QE II Cup (2000m) last month against a smart
international field, further enhanced his reputation with a runaway
three-and-a-quarter length victory in the International Cup, giving Hong
Kong their first success in the 2000m event.
John Moore, who trains
MILITARY ATTACK, provided the runner-up DAN EXCEL as well. The latter came
to Singapore after winning the Group 1 The Champions Mile (1600m) only two
weeks ago.
MAWINGO, a new arrival in
Singapore, finished third and looks set for a successful campaign at Kranji.
LUCKY NINE captured his
second international Group 1 when he beat the Australian sprinter BEL
SPRINTER by three lengths in the International Sprint (1200m). Third was
Singapore's SUPER EASY.
Trained by Casper Fownes,
the Irish gelding won the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint in 2011 and has also
previously raced in Dubai and Japan.
This is Hong Kong's third
win in the Sprint after SACRED KINGDOM in 2010 and GREEN BIRDIE the
following year.
