After several months of
trying, Kiwi trainer Stephen Jones finally saddled his first winner in
Malaysia when he sent out DIVINE POWER to victory in the final event here
today.
Jones made his local bow
last September and managed four minor placings with 24 runners last year.
DIVINE POWER was his fourth
runner this season and only entry for the day. The former Singapore galloper
made the switch up north after just a win and a second in 15 starts at
Kranji and was making his fourth appearance for Jones.
Ridden by Eirwan Khalid,
the Australian four-year-old followed up on two encouraging recent runs to
win by three lengths, providing the champion jockey with a winning ride on
his first day back after serving a suspension.
