After finding one to beat twice in three starts this season, GOAL KEEPER was back at his best when he captured the Kranji Stakes A - 1200m sprint at Kranji here tonight.

Ridden by Danny Beasley who has partnered him in four of the gelding's previous wins, the Australian four-year-old surged to the front rounding the home bend before fighting back tenaciously when challenged by two last-start winners MASTHEAD and MAKKURA to win by half a length.

GOAL KEEPER went down to MAKKURA by three parts of a length after setting the pace last time out on the polytrack. Prior to that he was unplaced in the KrisFlyer International Sprint.

"I think he went into the KrisFlyer a little underdone. There was a nice improvement in him after his last run and I was always confident he could win tonight," Beasley.

GOAL KEEPER has now won nine times in 17 starts after being picked up for A$44,000 at the Horses In Training Sale.
