K-POP, who became the first
Korean bred to win a race on the local circuit three weeks ago, was again in
the limelight when he trashed his rivals in the Class 4 - 1400m handicap
here today. In
winning by four lengths to follow up on his last start success, the
four-year-old set a new course over the short course with a time of 1 min.
21.1 secs., beating the old mark of 1min. 21.25 secs. set by HARRYS PAL
earlier this year.
Trained by Peter Lee, K-POP was again ridden by up-and-coming apprentice
Amirul Ismadi and the gelding now has two wins and a second from six starts since
landing unraced from Korea in late 2011.
K-POP is by an imported stallion out of a mare
who won nine races in Korea.
