Alan gives Laxon his 1,000th Kranji win

Laurie Laxon became the first expatriate trainer to saddle 1,000 winners at Kranji when ALAN made a winning racing debut in the Initiation - 1200m sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here tonight.

Partnered by Manoel Munes, the two-year-old was installed even-money favourite and won comfortably by one-and-three-quarter lengths after settling down in third spot.

"I’m very happy that I’ve trained 1,000 winners in Singapore as I never thought I would have achieved what I’ve achieved today when I moved here in 1999," said Laxon who won his first race at Kranji with STREISAND in March 2000.

Laxon won 700 races in his native New Zealand and Australia prior to coming to Singapore, most notably the Melbourne Cup with EMPIRE ROSE in 1988. He also prepared ROMANEE CONTI to win the Hong Kong Cup in 1992.
