After registering four
third placing from five starts earlier this season, MAKKURA is hitting top
gear again and very much on he upgrade with a second consecutive win in the
Open Class - 1100m sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here tonight.
Ridden by Brand Vorster,
the daughter of FALKIRK beat the very smart GOAL KEEPER and company, winning
by three-quarter length to set a new track record time of 1min. 4.31secs.
MAKKURA cost just NZ$12,000
as a yearling and won her only start in New Zealand before coming to
Singapore.
She had a impressive first
season last year when she chalked up five wins and three placings from nine
starts.
"She’s run a record and I
think there’s still more to come from her," said trainer Laurie Laxon who
took over the mare two months ago and has now achieved two wins and a third
from three outings with her.
