Joao Moreira heads to Kuala
Lumpur to take part in the International Jockeys Challenge (IJC) over the
next two days after securing his 100th win of the season at Kranji tonight.
The record-breaking jockey
Moreira had a full book of rides tonight but had to wait until the
penultimate race to hit the century mark on seasoned campaigner LIGHTNING
MAC.
Moreira had scored once on
the American gelding in his first season in Singapore in 2009. After that
Moreira rode him just once more last year when they finished second.
Their victory tonight was
hard earned, for they fought off a bunch of horses to gain victory by a neck
in a blanket finish.
It was the sixth win in 53
starts for LIGHTNING MAC who first raced here as INCREDIBLE SON.
"It’s been a bit
frustrating all night as things have not gone as well as expected, but I
never gave up," said Moreira who hit the century mark on Jun 17 last year.
He will have a busy two
days in Kuala Lumpur having been booked on 19 rides, including the six IJC
races.
