Record-breaking champion
jockey Joao Moreira returned to race riding in Singapore with a first-up win
on SUPER JETSET in the opening race at Kranji tonight.
But it was another
Brazilian rider Manoel Nunes who quickly showed just why he crowned six
times champion jockey in Macau when denied Moreira a quick double in the
very next race.
Munes, who managed only a
third in eight rides on New Year's Day, brought SUPER LUCKY with a
well-timed run on beat ALL APPROVED by a nose. The Australian gelding failed
to show up in 12 previous starts, thus causing a mild upset.
Moreira made amends with an
easy victory astride odds-on favourite HUKA FALLS in the Benchmark 83 -
1200m sprint. It was the New Zealand three-year-old's sixth win in seven
starts.
Nunes went on to complete
his own double with ANGRY CAT, who cost just A$6,000 as a yearling but has
now chalked up two wins and three placings in six starts, in the Class 4,
Div 2 - 1100m handicap.
